About us

In 1925, the Uphoff Family started farming a piece of land South of Findlay. While the landscape of this farm has changed drastically over the years, we are still going strong five generations later. Chris, Gilbert, Duane, Doug, and Elliott represent the five generations of the farm as seen on the picture above. Click read more to learn more about our farming operation.

January 2022 Newsletter
Better late than never was a common theme for our harvest and this newsletter lately. While we started on time, harvest slowed after September. Persistent wet weather and larger than average yields kept us from getting the crop out in a timely fashion. We tried to stay patient early on waiting for conditions to be ideal in order to keep from making ruts, but it then turned into a desperate situation to remove the crop at the cost of tearing up portions of fields which weren’t firm enough to hold the weight of our equipment. I’m happy to report the auger cart was only stuck once while the semis were stuck twice. The combine never quit. The combine, which was new this year, had four-wheel drive and that proved to be greatly beneficial. This was the first year for ever having a four-wheel drive on a combine. I guess sometimes we get lucky.

A long and busy spring was what we experienced this year. The start of April felt remarkably similar to 2020. The soil dried out nicely followed by some heat in the first week of April. This year we decided instead of planting one field of corn and then waiting for warmer weather, we were going to push hard to plant as many beans as possible. Yes, I said beans. For the first time ever on the farm, beans were planted first. The jury (Doug and Duane) is still out deciding whether it was the right choice or not, but I can say that those beans that were planted April 6th, 7th, and 8th are some of the best looking beans we have ever had on the farm.
