About Our Farm

Doug and Elliott operate together on a little over 2000 acres in Shelby, Christian and Moultrie Counties. Raising corn, soybeans, and occasionally wheat. Most of the farms are located in Okaw Township around Lake Shelbyville. Conventional tillage is practiced on the majority of acres, but in 2021 Elliott will be attempting to use cover crops and no till soybeans in an effort to try more sustainable practices that help reduce the use of chemicals and loss of nutrients from the field. This side by side of cover crops is being done in cooperation with the Soil Health Partnership and Precision Conservation Management.

Even though conventional practices will be used on the majority of acres, the goal for the farm is to be as efficient as possible. That means less trips across the field and less inputs while maintaining high yields and clean fields. All of this fits well into the Mission, Vision, and Goals of the farm.
